Seasonal Ginger Tea

December 10, 2013

I've recently started exploring the wonderful uses of ginger root -- specifically in teas and smoothies -- and I am amazed that I just now started using it. Historically, ginger root has a long tradition of easing stomach aches, indigestion, and even boosting immune systems, which is exactly what I need to fight this nasty cold right now {do you get sick multiple times in the winter like me?}.

I find that the older and busier I get, the more important it is to have a clear head and healthy body throughout the day. Luckily, this recipe is super easy and can be thrown together with ingredients found in your cupboards.

Spicy Ginger Tea

  • 2 tablespoons of ginger root, thinly sliced
  • 1/2 fresh lemon
  • 1 tablespoon raw honey
  • 1 teaspoon of cinnamon

You will want the ginger root to boil in about 5 cups of water on the stove for 10-20 minutes, depending on how strong you want your tea to be {I did mine for 10 minutes}. Once your water is done boiling, remove the remaining ginger using a strainer. Add cinnamon, honey, and lemon. Sip and enjoy!
